We can grind, point, or replace the bricks of your home or commercial property to help you get rid of any water leaks or wet spots. Over time, natural weathering and decay can cause voids in the joints between masonry units, and this often allows water to seep into the building. If you’ve noticed a problem like this, our grinding and pointing services can help you renew your masonry construction and keep it in the best condition possible.

The Brick Pointing Process

The first thing we do during a brick-pointing job is to inspect the mortar. We’ll decide on the best methods to proceed with and whether or not we need to remove any of the mortar. We’ll make sure that any mortar we use to replace older mortar matches the type, color, and texture of the existing mortar. We’ll also take a sample of the mortar to help us identify the components, ratio, and aggregate.

We remove any damaged mortar until we reach the point where the sound mortar is, which is a slow and careful process. If your building uses any softer materials, we may need to remove it by hand to avoid any damage. If the mortar is harder, we’ll use a grinder or a blade and take special care not to damage any of the masonry units.
